To help get ready for WordCamp Boston, we thought we\u2019d compile the list of WordPress<\/a> resources specifically for beginners with advice on starting your blog, choosing themes, and downloading plugins.<\/p>\n

Creating Your Blog<\/h3>\n

Starting on WordPress can be daunting if you don\u2019t have someone guiding your every step of the way. Fortunately, we found some detailed guides on getting started on WordPress:<\/p>\n

OrphicPixel \u2013 \u201cHow to Launch a WordPress Website Without the Headache\u201d<\/a><\/strong>: This guide talks about choosing the right theme, downloading SEO plugins (for more to download, see our list below), testing before buying and using the WordPress community. BlogWorld \u2013 \u201cA Beginner\u2019s Guide to WordPress Basics\u201d<\/a><\/strong>: This guide is a bit more technical than the last with instructions on adding themes, plugins, sidebars and content. Also check out their \u201cWordpress Pointers for Beginners\u201d for some answers to FAQ.<\/li>\n
  3. Carloyn E. Cooper Communications \u2013 \u201cBeginner\u2019s Guide to WordPress 101\u201d<\/a><\/strong>: If learning from text isn\u2019t your thing, definitely check out Carolyn\u2019s guide. She uses video tutorials to walk you through the basics of adding and editing posts. She also offers a variety of tutorials for beginner WordPress users, so definitely check out her videos to get that that one-on-one feel.<\/li>\n

It is written in very simple terms, which will help you advance beyond a beginner level.     Finding a Theme<\/h3>\n

    After you figure out how to create and set up your blog, you need to pick a theme. To save you some time flipping through the hundred of pages of themes, here is a really great checklist<\/a> for forming a strategy when picking a theme for your blog.<\/p>\n
