By doing so, future links you click will automatically open in Google Chrome. Follow these steps to set Google Chrome as your default browser:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click the wrench icon\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/help\/hc\/images\/chrome_toolsmenu.gif\" alt=\"wrench icon\" align=\"absmiddle\" \/>\u00a0on the browser toolbar.<\/li>\n<li>Select\u00a0<strong>Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click the\u00a0<strong>Basics\u00a0<\/strong>tab.<\/li>\n<li>In the &#8220;Default browser&#8221; section, click\u00a0<strong>Make Google Chrome my default browser<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Get a Theme<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Most of us spend a large chunk of our day in front of a browser. \u00a0Want to spice things up a bit? \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/chrome.google.com\/webstore\/category\/themes\" target=\"_blank\">Download a Theme for Chrome<\/a>\u00a0and pick a look that suits you. \u00a0The choices are endless!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Manage Your Bookmarks<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click the wrench icon\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/help\/hc\/images\/chrome_toolsmenu.gif\" alt=\"tools menu\" align=\"absmiddle\" \/>\u00a0on the browser toolbar.<\/li>\n<li>Select\u00a0<strong>Bookmarks<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Select\u00a0<strong>Bookmark manager<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div>From there you can move bookmarks around, search bookmarks, create and name new folders for your bookmarks.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>Manage Your Passwords<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Google Chrome can save your usernames and passwords for different websites. The browser can then automatically complete the sign-in fields for you when you next visit these websites. \u00a0All these passwords &#8212; including the passwords you&#8217;ve saved from other browsers &#8212; can be\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/support.google.com\/chrome\/bin\/answer.py?answer=165139\">synced<\/a>\u00a0to your Google Account, so that they are available on other computers you&#8217;re using.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<ol>\n<li>Click the wrench icon\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/help\/hc\/images\/chrome_toolsmenu.gif\" alt=\"tools menu\" align=\"absmiddle\" \/>\u00a0on the browser toolbar.<\/li>\n<li>Select\u00a0<strong>Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click the\u00a0<strong>Personal Stuff<\/strong>\u00a0tab.<\/li>\n<li>Adjust your password settings in the &#8220;Passwords&#8221; section:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Select &#8220;Offer to save passwords&#8221; if you want Google Chrome to prompt you to save your password every time you sign in to a new website.<\/li>\n<li>Otherwise, select &#8220;Never save passwords&#8221; if you don&#8217;t want Google Chrome to ever save your passwords.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>Quickly Access Your Most Viewed Websites<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>To open the New Tab page, click the\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/help\/hc\/images\/chrome_95622a.gif\" alt=\"new tab button\" \/>\u00a0icon next to the last tab at the top of the browser window. \u00a0There you will see your existing Apps. \u00a0If you click the &lt; sign on that same page page, Chrome will take you to mini-versions of your most frequently visited websites. \u00a0This makes clicking to your Gmail, online banking, Facebook and whatever other pages you visit on a daily basis quick and easy!<\/div>\n<h3 class=\"subheader\">Chrome Keyboard Shortcuts<\/h3>\n<p>Who needs a mouse when you can become a Chrome Pro via your keyboard? \u00a0Below are my most-used Google Chrome keyboard shortcuts. \u00a0The commands below are for a Mac. \u00a0Just substitute the\u00a0\u2318 for Ctrl if you&#8217;re using a PC!<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u2318-+ and &#8211; |\u00a0<\/strong>Enlarges everything on the page \/ makes everything smaller on the page<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2318-D |\u00a0<\/strong>Saves your current page as a Bookmark<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2318-H | <\/strong>Hides Google Chrome<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2318-Option-I |\u00a0<\/strong>Opens Developer Tools<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2318-Shift-J |\u00a0<\/strong>Opens the download page<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2318-L | <\/strong>Highlights the URL<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2318-M | <\/strong>Minimizes the Window<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2318-Shift-N | <\/strong>Opens a new window in Incognito Mode (use if you have a secret to keep or want your browsing history to be &#8220;off the radar!&#8221;)<\/p>\n<p><strong><strong>\u2318-Q | <\/strong><\/strong>Closes Google Chrome<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2318-R | <\/strong>Reloads current page<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2318-W | Closes Current Tab\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2318-Shift-W | Closes Current Window<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2318-Y |<\/strong> Opens the history page<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3 class=\"subheader\">Chrome Extensions<\/h3>\n<p>First, what&#8217;s a Chrome Extension?\u00a0Extensions are extra features and functionality that you can easily add to Google Chrome. Some apps require you to\u00a0install a small component on your local machine, but that will only make a difference when you&#8217;re using that particular Web app. For example,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/google.about.com\/od\/gmailtipsandtricks\/tp\/10-Easy-Google-Docs-Tricks.htm\">Google Docs<\/a>\u00a0is a Chrome App. It runs within the browser and doesn&#8217;t require you to download anything, but it has its own user interface. \u00a0A few other neat Chrome apps are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/chrome.google.com\/webstore\/detail\/lljagjbdinjommccodelnfmkepbdoafl\" target=\"_blank\">Pad Mapper<\/a> for your apartment hunt<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/chrome.google.com\/webstore\/detail\/gonbigodpnfghidmnphnadhepmbabhij\" target=\"_blank\">Crytocat<\/a>: an encrypted chat room for you and your friends that runs on your browser<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/chrome.google.com\/webstore\/detail\/dafkakmjmhfnnfclmjdfpnbmdeddkoeo\" target=\"_blank\">Aviary<\/a>: like Photoshop but free and running from your browser<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/chrome.google.com\/webstore\/detail\/laankejkbhbdhmipfmgcngdelahlfoji?hc=search&amp;hcp=main\" target=\"_blank\">Stay Focused<\/a>: an app that allows you to set limits on how much time you can spend on certain websites (hello, Facebook!)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"subheader\">Print from the Cloud Using Chrome<\/h3>\n<p>Last but certainly not least, don&#8217;t forget about one of Chrome&#8217;s newest features! \u00a0Never get stuck wishing you had a printer on a business trip again. \u00a0Just use &#8220;Google Cloud Print&#8221; to print your documents to any FedEx office in the US in a snap! \u00a0Canon, Epson, Kodak and HP also make several printers that are\u00a0compatible\u00a0with Google Cloud Print making it easy to print from anywhere!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Quiz time! <\/strong> What did you learn?
