Twitter share buttons still works, but they no longer have share counters.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.shareaholic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/twitter-share-counts.png\" alt=\"twitter-share-counts\" width=\"100%\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-22393\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.shareaholic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/twitter-share-counts.png 520w, https:\/\/www.shareaholic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/twitter-share-counts-300x72.png 300w, https:\/\/www.shareaholic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/twitter-share-counts-400x96.png 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We were curious as to whether this change would lead to a decline in sharing activity and <em>share of voice*<\/em> for Twitter, so we pulled together and analyzed sharing activity data generated across 300,000+ sites that are powered by Shareaholic&#8217;s Content Amplification Platform. These sites collectively reach over 450 million unique visitors each month.<\/p>\n<p><em>* Share of voice\u00a0is the percentage of Twitter shares, relative to other sharing destinations available such as Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn, etc.<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>Did share counts influence Twitter sharing activity?<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.shareaholic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/twitter-activity_share-of-voice_november-20152.png\" alt=\"twitter-activity_share-of-voice_november-2015\" width=\"100%\" class=\"alignleft\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It appears so. Sharing activity to Twitter has declined by 11.28% since November 20th.<\/p>\n<h3>What does this mean for site owners?<\/h3>\n<p>Over the past few days, quite a few of you reached out wondering whether you should still keep the Twitter <a href=\"https:\/\/shareaholic.com\/publishers\/sharing\">share button<\/a> active on your site. Although early data suggests that there has been a decline in Twitter sharing activity, Twitter remains one of the most popular destinations for sharing content with over <a href=\"https:\/\/about.twitter.com\/company\">320 million<\/a> active users.
